Speaking at BostonPHP on 02/28/2008: An in depth view of Drupal

I’ll be speaking at the BostonPHP User’s Group on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 6:30pm:

The Drupal CMS (PHP, GPL) allows you to assemble powerful web sites instead of writing them from scratch. It supports custom inter-related data types, configurable views and summaries of all content, user-generated content, search, user accounts, roles, media handling, and much more. Thousands of contributed modules provide all kinds of functionality.Eventually, though, many sites need custom functionality. Join Barry Jaspan, Principal Engineer at Acquia, Inc., for a deep introduction to Drupal development, including:

  • Drupal hooks
  • Custom modules
  • Leveraging existing modules and APIs
  • What’s new in Drupal 6
  • Becoming a professional Drupal consultant/site developer

Hi Barry, Your presentation

Hi Barry,

Your presentation tonight at the Boston PHP meetup was excellent. I am just getting started as a Drupal Developer. I have used Drupal without actually having to delve into the modules or create custom template pages for over a year. I was lucky enough to be hired by the Family Education Network, a division of Pearson Publishing, a few weeks ago.

You really helped me solidify some concepts of Drupal development that have been kind of vague for me.

Thanks again.
