The New York Observer

The New York Observer, a prominent New York City newspaper, switched away from a proprietary CMS and relaunched its web site using Drupal. The site features a gorgeous theme which pays careful attention to typography and whitespace. Moshe Weitzman and I co-developed the site. My primary tasks included:

  • Implementing the extremely detailed and demanding visual theme based on Photoshop mockups.
  • Migrating the Observer’s archive of 26,000 articles, authors, channels, columns, and blog posts covering 1997 to the present and spanning three separate legacy database systems into a single consistent Drupal database comprised of several interrelated, cross-referencing object types (CCK node types).

The new site launched publicly in April, 2007.
